Joining the South Carolina State Guard is an exciting process. Serving your State is a very noble action and it can be a rewarding experience. In the South Carolina State Guard you will gain new skills and expand your military education.
The basic requirements for enlistment are:
- You must be at least 17 years of age or older
- You must meet the SCSG height and weight standard
The first step in the enlistment process is to meet with a recruiter and discuss your duty assignment opportunities. When your enlistment has been approved you will take an oath of enlistment and begin serving with your assigned unit. Special education, civilian acquired skills or prior military service may result in a higher rank assignment upon enlistment. Experience is appreciated and respected.
